Obama Ain't Afraid of No Cliff

Today's Top News

I learned that despite the looming "Fiscal Cliff" we are about to go over, the fine men and women in The House and Senate are going to get a raise!  Obama signed an executive order to give them a pay increase.  I can't help but shake my head, doesn't one usually get a pay raise for doing a good job?

Let's put this in an easy to understand format... say these folks work at McDonald's, even though I doubt any of them are qualified to do so.  They would argue about how much to charge and never settle on an amount.  And then there's old Nancy, Ms. "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."  I imagine, Nancy would work the front counter and offer bags of food, saying you have to pay for it before you know what's in it.  One thing for sure, whatever is in that bag she is selling, it's topped with Boehner's tears, the new secret ingredient in the Special Sauce.

I, for one, can't think of any group of people more deserving of a raise.

"I'd put a bumper sticker on my car that says---"I Boycott Dicks" but then someone would think I'm a recovering homo!!!"

This status was in reference to Dick's Sporting Goods deciding to stop selling certain rifles.

Reading, Writing, & Wiping

Today's Top News

Apparently things are getting so crappy that in some places in our great country the kids have to add toilet paper to their school supply list.

I don't know if this is news, it depends on what your definition of news is.

Google is known for having a sense of humor.  I found this story about searching Google for Obama here.

Don't worry if you are a hardcore Obama lover and this upsets you, you can always substitute Obama for Palin and get similar results.

Today's Great Status

Dear Lord, please put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth!

Today's Picture

Well, someone has some strong feelings! I guess this proves not everyone in Texas loves The Cowboys.

Who dat? Super Bowl Edition

Today's Top News

Of course there was talk about the Super Bowl all day today on Facebook?  I did have a question though... why is 'Who dat?' ok to say in our very PC world? Anyone, anyone?

Today's Funny Stuff

I'm laughing hard about all the comments about The Who playing for the halftime show.  Half the people don't know who the heck The Who is and the other half are making fun of these really old guys jammin' out.  I know I thought the lead singer looked like he needed an oxygen tank rolled out at any minute.

Today's Opinions

From what I can tell the baby E*Trade commercials where the favorite among my friends.

My Purple Turned Blue

Today's News Story

The Colts and the Saints are going to the Superbowl.  Tons of people on my Facebook were for the Saints but I was good and, remembering what my mother told me, didn't post anything rude at all.

I'm only half happy about that because I really wanted my "old man" Favre to go!  I'm happy that Peyton and Colts are going though.  That is who I'll be going for! My husband had asked what I would do if it had been the Vikings and the Colts and I told him I could watch the game in peace knowing someone I like would win! Now I have to fully commit to one side.

Today's Status

*WARNING* You will probably not find this funny if you are a Democrat.

HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK 1. Open a new file in your computer. 2. Name it 'Barack Obama'. 3. Send it to the Recycle Bin. 4. Empty the Recycle Bin. 5. Your PC will ask you: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?' 6. Firmly Click 'Yes.' 7. Feel better? GOOD! - Tomorrow we'll do Nancy...

I admit today's post is short and not so sweet... I have to go pout about Brett some more!  Maybe tomorrow I'll wake up with a better attitude.

Not Much!

Not much is what I learned today! This post will be rather short and sweet.  I didn't have much Facebook time today.  It does happen not too often but it happens.

Today's Top News

I don't have a link or a story for it but there is an eerie silent mourning among my friends as the Cowboys lost to the Vikings.  Now tomorrow people will be posting the typical 'I hate Monday' posts.  This always happens after a Cowboys loss around here.  A phenomenon that my husband refers to as Black Monday.  Then slowly and surely they will come out of it and start with the 'they are still my team' and talking about next year and their road to the Super Bowl. I'm sure Charger fans are feeling the same way as well.

BTW, does anyone that reads this think it's wildly silly that they are having the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl?

Today's Great Status

Ya know, the word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'

I thought that one was great. :o)

Mississippi is Easier to Spell

Today's Top News

There was just no big news going around on Facebook today. Perhaps I should have waited until later tonight to see if anyone would get drunk and post something ridiculous.

To tell you how slow it was, it was pretty much talk of football and some about the senate race between Brown and Coakley in Massachusetts (Did I spell Massachusetts right? Maybe I should ask Martha Coakley.) What can I say I just can't always count on my friends to be entertaining and informative.

Today's Video

I've warned you before most of my peeps are in Texas so here is the video going around today.

I'm whispering now when I tell you that I'm going to be secretly cheering for the Vikings.

Today's Best Status

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't cut your hair while on meds.

That one was not on my list of what my mom told me to never do but I guess I'll add it. I am curious yet afraid to ask if she cut her own hair or went somewhere and made some wild and crazy request.  I may never know.

Trash Talkin', Texas Pride, & An Expanding Vocabulary

Todays' History Lesson

Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood - I was surprised to learn about this woman.  I was truly blown away by some of the statements she made about the human race in general.  Sure, we are all guilty of thinking we are better than others at times but old Margaret took her beliefs to an extreme.  I was in awe of, what I would call, her twisted mindset.  If you'd like to learn more about Ms. Sanger click here.

Today's Big Theme

Like I said in my previous post the majority of my friends live in Dallas or have at some point.  There is all kind of talk about the Cowboys' first playoff game.  There are doubters that are worried about the one and done of the past.  But then there are those hard core Kool-aid drinking fans that are trash talking it up!  The only way I truly care about the outcome of this game is what my husband's mood will be tomorrow. :oP

Today's Fan Page

The most popular fan page among my friends today was I bet Texas can get 1 million fans before any other state They are more than half way there with 551,015  I'm not really sure if that is great though as I do have somewhat of a life and I wasn't about to check our other 49 states.

Today's Word of The Day

I admit today wasn't the most interesting day on Facebook.  But the word of the day had to be the bestest! On the comments on a quiz about the Health Care Debate I saw someone refer to the current legislature and administration as a bunch of ASSCLOWNS!  LOL This will now be one of my new favorite words. See I'm expanding my vocabulary, Facebook is educational.

Tasers, Football, & A Modern Day Hero

Today's Top News

From Fox News - Taser introduces new device to monitor kids and cell phones
I have to admit this headline conjures up images of some teenager getting the crap zapped out of them for sending any kind of explicit text message; just a little good old fashioned shock therapy.  Not to worry though parents, we know corporal punishment no longer exists. This new device, featured at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas, is merely an application for both your cell phone and your child's.  To see the full story click here.

Today's Fan Page

Most of my friends are from Dallas so this one is a given, Dallas Cowboys kicking the Philadelphia Eagles Ass!

Today's Facebook Hero

Today there were a lot of comments about Colt McCoy, the quarterback from the Texas Longhorns. He was injured in last night's BCS Championship game and couldn't finish. So, why is he the hero of the day? Colt simply stated, "I always give God the glory. I never question why things happen the way they do. God is in control of my life. And I know that if nothing else, I'm standing on the Rock."  He sounds like a very honorable young man!
